Synopsis

Peregrine Ann Bailey is an unusual spinster who yearns for connection. Spending her days whiling away the time with bizarre and oftentimes scandalous hobbies she hides from her cantankerous uncle, who begrudgingly accepted her into his care after the death of her father. Peregrine does her best to limit the burden of her care so her uncle does not turn her out. Even if that means endlessly mending her own garments, and living as sparely as a church mouse.

The Scottish Marquess of Haldane, or Jack as his men call him, is already in a foul mood at having been forced to travel to London to settle a property dispute against an opportunistic British Lord. However, loyalty to his home is Jack’s greatest priority, and he’d sooner die than fail to protect what is his. That loyalty unexpectedly extends to Peregrine when just the scent of her brings Jack to the realization he has found his mate. Unable to ignore his attraction to a woman he’s never seen, one that bears the scent of home, he hatches a rash plan to meet the irresistible Miss Bailey.

On her way to the British Museum Peregrine is abducted off the street by a hilariously unprepared trio of Scotsmen who politely force to attend an impromptu dinner with a Marquess, who she unbeknownst to her is a werewolf. When she learns the next day that the Marquess has purchased her hand from her uncle, Peregrine is livid, but soon she, Jack, and his men are making the harrowing journey back to her fiancé’s estate in Scotland. While at first Peregrine thinks she has exchanged one keeper from another, but Jack’s otherworldly present offer her a vision for the future she could never have imagined.

About

While riding a tour bus through the Highlands the initial inspiration hit for her debut novel, HOPE IS A THING WITH FEATHERS. Armed with the lack of inhibition one tends to get when cresting 40, and a few saint like beta reader, she finished the 1st draft in less than a year. Proving to her childhood self that she could finish writing a book, and that sometimes dreams you make when you are small can be carried into adulthood.

You can usually find her fighting her tuxedo cat, Toby, for supremacy of her keyboard.
